In order to assure the highest possible standards of responsibility toward the healthcare industry, hospitals and physicians alike, members of the American Association of Clinical Coders and Auditors agree to:

Maintain the highest standards of professional conduct by acting with honesty, dignity, diligence and integrity.

Exercise independence and objectivity in all 
professional activities.

Fulfill the clinical coder's and/or clinical auditor's obligations by disseminating to executive and financial management any findings which may significantly impact the medical group or facility.

  • Maintain confidentiality of all privileged and or potentially sensitive information obtained.

    Refrain from activities which may be in conflict with the interest of the clinical coder’s and/or clinical auditor’s organizations or which would prejudice the coder’s or auditor’s ability to objectively carry out their duties and responsibilities.

    Refuse to engage in any activities which might discredit the clinical coding and auditing profession or the AACCA organization.

    Strive for the highest levels of professional expertise and competence.

    Uphold the objectives and abide by the bylaws of AACCA.
