The Certification Application Fee is $349, effective Jan. 1, 2006.
This is the first/only price increase since Oct. 2003 when we started the certification program.

Prior to going online with our exam, the pricing of $225 DID NOT
include a $127 "sitting fee" payable to Pearson Testing.  That total was $352.  If a candidate needed to retake 1 section, they had to re-take the WHOLE exam, and pay Pearson an additional $127, bringing the total to $479.

Now, the $349 includes re-taking 1 section (any), without having to
re-take the whole exam, and no sitting fees.  If additional sections have to be re-taken, the cost is $50 per section.

It is SO EASY to take your RN-Coder Certification Exam!

  1. Pay your application fee ONLINE by clicking the appropriate links on the top of this page.

  2. Print out the Certification Application form & Candidate Disclaimer form and fill out.

  3. Attach a copy of your Certificate of Completion (most programs require your submission of the Final Exam in order to award this).

  4. Or, attach a letter from your employer attesting to at least 1 year coding experience.

  5. Send everything to: AACCA Certification Office, 123 East Ninth Street #302 Upland, CA  91786

  6. Please allow at least 15 business days for your application to be processed.

  7. You will receive the Authorization to Test (ATT) letter at the address you have indicated on your Certification Application.

  8. The ATT letter will contain your exclusive username/password (which may NOT be transferred or disclosed to anyone else!) and a secret link in the AACCA website for LOGGING IN for your examination.  Please Note: Your username and password will be valid for 90 days only and will automatically expire at that time.  If you do not take your test within that 90-day time period, you will be required to $50.00 in order to receive a new one.

  9. From the date you receive your ATT letter, you have 90 calendar days in which to complete your examination.

  10. From the time you LOG IN to take your exam, you have 24 hours to finish it.

  11. RN-Coders:  You have 90 minutes to complete each of the 4 sections of the exam.  Each exam has 50 test items.

  12. You will receive a Score Report AT THE END of the examination.  Be sure to print out your results (PASS or FAIL) and fax them to our office: 909-579-0508.

  13. To pass the exam, you must score at least 70% on each section.  If you PASSED! Your Score Report will include an Affadavit that you must sign in front of a Notary Public (be sure to make several copies for yourself!) and mailed to the AACCA Certification Office.  You will then receive your Credential Order Form.

  14. If you did not pass, your Score Report will indicate that.  Be sure to fax it to us, and if you would like to re-take THAT SECTION (you receive 1 FREE section re-take for your Certification Fee – more than 1 section, it’s $50 per section to re-take.)  Be sure to include on your Score Report that you would like to re-take this section.  You will receive a new "Authorization to Test" letter. Your $50 per section re-take fee must be received prior to your actual testing date. Upon receipt of payment, you will be sent a new username and password for re-taking the failed sections.  Click here to order re-take sections.

  15. Be sure to CAREFULLY PRINT your name, credentials, etc. on your Credential Order forms.  They will be printed AS YOU INDICATE.  If there is an error, it will cost $25 to re-print your Credential.  Be sure to order the very NICE frame & matting from “Framing Success.”

THAT’S IT !  This is simply the BEST, EASIEST Coding certification available in the United States!

When you have received your Preliminary Score Report from our testing centers, be sure to fax it to AACCA for validation.  The AACCA fax number, available 24/7 is: 909-579-0508.

After the AACCA receives and validates your test results, you will receive a form on which to provide the EXACT NAME you would like on you Credential -- and the EXACT CREDENTIAL you are receiving.

Example: If you are not an RN, you will probably want the "Certified Clinical Coder" credential. However, if you are an MD, you may want "Certified MD-Coder." And if you are a Physician's Assistant, you may want the "Certified PA-Coder."

You will receive your credential, suitable for framing, approximately 2 weeks (10 business days) after AACCA receives and validates your Pearson score report.

NOCA Certification:

We are pursuing an active participation as a member of the National Organizations for Competency Assurance (NOCA). The committee will be meeting with the NOCA officials and board members in Washington D.C. to obtain their advice in pursuit of the accreditation process. We anticipate this to be a complex and labor intensive course, requiring many hours of researching, writing, and completion of the multiple requirements for accreditation, but this will all be worth of the cause. The AACCA as a national organization will ultimately reap the rewards of being the nationally recognized Clinical Coder and Clinical Auditor association with the highest standards of excellence.
